Unilever Installs Another Filler for Home & Personal Care Line (1999)
Aug 12, 2010COVINA, CA – December 6, 1999 – Pacific Packaging Machinery Inc, the leader in custom, high speed volumetric liquid packaging fillers, today announced that Unilever has successfully installed a new 36 station volumetric rotary filler with servo-controlled motors. The 36 station filler complements the 2 existing Pacific fillers that are currently in operation within their production facility in City of Industry, CA. As a leading supplier of liquid hair and skin care products, Unilever’s filler requirements are significant. Unilever requires not only an extremely reliable and accurate filling machine but also one that is flexible given the various product viscosities and a myriad of container sizes and shapes. Finally, the filler must be easy to operate and maintain in order to minimize operator training and maintenance downtime.
As Julian Roslanowski, Manufacturing Manager, discusses, “We have 2 Pacific fillers in production, the first of which was purchased in 1990. Given we have been extremely pleased with the performance and durability of these fillers, Pacific was the ideal choice for our new production line. With our new line, we needed increased capacity and flexibility for an even greater range of products and containers.”
Unilever installed a custom 36 station rotary volumetric filler with bottom up filling valves that supports up to 500 containers per minute. The filler supports 7 to 40 ounce containers of various shapes and sizes. Automatic open and close bottom fill valve technology provides a drip-less filling environment. The filler has also been configured with servo-controlled motors that are driven through a screen panel interface, an automatic turret height adjustment, and an automatic lubrication system. Mark Stein, Lead Production Mechanic, states, “When we decided to get a new filler for this line, we looked closely at several competing brands. After objective analysis of all factors, we agreed that the numbers pointed to Pacific by a wide margin. Pacific was very cooperative about incorporating customization to address the Unilever specification.”
